Creating the New Evaluation Experience
In Spring 2026, Dr. Candace Hastings and Laura Jones launched an initiative to redesign our institutional course evaluations. Each academic dean selected two team members and two alternates to represent their college, joined by a Faculty Senate representative and a survey/statistics expert.
The team kicked off in March 2026 and completed the new question set by May.
Charge & Focus
The committee was tasked with creating a unified evaluation framework suitable for:
- Delivery Formats: Face-to-Face, Hybrid, and Online courses
- Academic Levels: Undergraduate and Graduate programs
Key Design Decisions
To meet this broad charge, the team deliberately focused on observable instructor behaviors. Because course content is increasingly developed by instructional designers or coordinators distinct from the instructor of record, course-level design questions were deliberately excluded to ensure instructors are evaluated fairly on their direct teaching actions.
